لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سَنَنَ مَنْ قَبْلَكُمْ - Following the Ways of Previous Nations

"You will surely follow the ways of those who came before you, inch by inch and cubit by cubit, to the extent that if they were to enter the hole of a lizard, you would enter it as well."

This hadith was reported by the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhārī and Muslim).

In it, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ informs that his Ummah (nation) will follow the paths of previous nations (the Jews and the Christians) in their customs and behaviors, even in the smallest details—even if those ways are incorrect or alien to the religion.

This serves as a warning against blind imitation and unjustified resemblance to others.
